Menagerie

Ogden Nash was one of the great American humorists of the 20th century. His poetry often points out many of the ridiculous aspects of everyday life and makes witty commentary on both the mundane and the fantastic. The poems in this cycle are observations on the animal kingdom - from the microbe to mythological creatures - and are drawn from collections of the poet’s work. In addition to parts for the singer and pianist, the work also includes specific stage directions for the page turner who is asked to assist in the preparation of the piano with aluminum foil prior to The Wasp and to interact with the singer during The Lama.
